Growth and Modernization
In other areas of the company in the years and the decades preceeding the transition into the 20th Century, there were also signs of growth. In 1893 “Styria” had already acquired a printing works in Judenburg and in 1906 registered offices in Vienna and Leibnitz were founded. In 1918, the renowned book shop "Moser" in Graz and the affiliated publisher were purchased from Preßverein, and in 1922 book printing works and publishing firms in Salzburg and in Bavarian Altötting were added.
At the end of the 1920´s, the then General Director Karl Maria Stepan – a solitary personality to whom the “Styria” has a lot to thank for – initiated a further stage of modernization in the company. As a result, the “Styria”-Book Publishing House was able to acquire a reputation for itself.
