Success Stories
Under the leadership of the Editor-in-chief Fritz Csoklich from 1960 on, the “Kleine Zeitung” became successively more significant. Together with a powerful team, which included his long-standing deputy Kurt Wimmer and also journalistic “sages” such as Egon Blaschka, Max Mayr and Karl Hans Haysen, Csoklich made the “Kleine Zeitung” into the largest Austrian provincial newspaper. A position that up to the present day, was and is continually extended.
This success was also decisively due to the leadership of the subsequent General Director Hanns Sassmann as well as Julius Kainz, who both always understood and led the “Kleine Zeitung”and later also other newspapers such as the “Kurier” (1972-1974), “Die Furche” and “Die Presse” as economic businesses.
As head of the publishing house "Styria" since 1972, Gerhard Trenkler placed emphasis on reliable production in the areas of Religion and History. Under his protection, a separate literary programme was also launched, within which the works of authors such as Jeannie Ebner, Zarko Petan, György Sebestyén, Ilse Tielsch and Hans Weigl came out. In the dynamic field of the book trade, Johann Steinböck was responsible for over two decades for the varied activities of the “Styria” at different locations.
