Josef Kaufmann
Nomen est omen (True to his name)

A charming manager, however with tenacity. This was how Josef Kaufmann, born in 1920 in Raabau near Feldbach, became both acquainted with and regarded by his colleagues and business partners in his chosen home of Carinthia.

After returning from French captivity and working for the local government Kaufmann joined Styria in 1956 as a clerk. Only one month later, he was already head of advertisements for the “Kleine Zeitung” in Klagenfurt and in 1969, his appointment to head of publishing for the offices in Klagenfurt followed. After 12 years of working as director of the publishing house, Josef Kaufmann went into well deserved retirement in 1987.

During his varied activities for the Kleine Zeitung Klagenfurt, particularly from 1959 onwards, Josef Kaufmann set the essential impetus for the advancement and success of the paper in Carinthia. Beside his publishing activities he constantly still found time for charitable work. As a member of the board, Josef Kaufmann helped initiate numerous campaigns at the Moosburg Kinderdorf.

Josef Kaufmann died on 20th June 2002 a few weeks before his 82nd birthday.
