Not quite from dishwasher to millionaire, but from a graduate of a commercial college (5 semesters at evening school) to the business director of Styria – Josef Steinbauer took this career path.

In 1948 he joined “Styria” as an accountant, after he had spent a year at the ÖBB (Austrian National Railways) after the war and before that, some time in a timber trade company office and in local authority administration. In 1961 he was appointed to senior accountant and in 1967 was promoted to company secretary, before he was elected to business director of “Styria”.

In the following years Josef Steinbauer lay a secure foundation for the further development of “Styria”, emphasized the then General Director Hanns Sassmann in 1992, on the occasion of a function for the outstanding services of the Styrian employee. Furthermore, the dynamic investments in the company would not have been so accurately managed, when Josef Steinbauer and his team had not provided such detailed documents. The figures had been the protecting cover during economic competition.

In the summer of 1991 Josef Steinbauer went into retirement, where he devotes himself to his numerous hobbies.
