Reliability and integrity beside the political and journalistic challenge, characterized the path of Heinz Stritzl who also constantly valued a glance at neighbouring regions. His relief-campaigns for the refugees of the Balkan war are as well-known as his endeavours for tough, but open dialogue with the Slovenian ethnic group in Carinthia.
Born in Unzmarkt, he joined “Styria” in 1953 where three years later he was promoted to Head of the Carinthian editorial offices at the “Kleine Zeitung”. In this position as editor-in-chief, he was substantially involved with the rise and the success of the “Styria”-Flagship in the most southern province of Austria. One of his greatest triumphs was without doubt the successful defense of attacks, with which the “Krone” newspaper tried to break into the stratum of readers of the "Kleinen Zeitung".
Even his strongest competitors did not shy away from acknowledging Heinz Stritzl on the occasion of his retirement at 71 years of age. They paid tribute to him being a person with clear-sightedness, who never shied away from standing up against injustice, opprobrium and errors in politics, economics or culture.
